Welcome to Cirencester Dance Club, which was established in 1946, with the aim to offer local and affordable classes in Cirencester and the local area. We encourage an interest in and enjoyment of dance and performance, for anyone within the local community, regardless of age or ability, all whilst having fun
Cirencester Dance Club strives to offer an exceptional standard of professional teaching by highly qualified teachers, in a fun and friendly environment. We offer classes and examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Theatre Skills and Performance Classes. We also offer the opportunity to learn different skills in our supplementary Workshop Days throughout the year and our Summer Schools.
Our members gain self-respect, confidence and discipline and are encouraged to develop their musicality and stage awareness, whilst learning.
Children can start at Cirencester Dance Club as young as 2 years old in our Pre-School classes, Ballet Bees and Tiny Steps. We have classes to cater for all ages from 2 years old to adults, and classes to suit all abilities, with an emphasis on non-judgemental participation and enjoyment.
Cirencester Dance Club members also have the opportunity to perform in classical ballets, variety shows, show cases as well as local events and festivals, and taking regulated exams.
The Club is managed by a voluntary Committee, elected by its parents and pupils. In 2007, in recognition of its contribution to the community, the Club was granted charitable status.
Our main studios at The Bingham Hall in Cirencester are fully equipped with a sprung floor, Ballet Barres and mirrors.
Cirencester Dance Club is fully devoted to providing dancers of all ages an encouraging environment where they are given the opportunity to grow and excel in their dance and performance education. We strive to deliver the highest quality of dance training, while nurturing each student’s unique gift of talent and creativity. We wish to encourage our students to achieve their fullest potential – to support them as they grow artistically and academically, and develop into well-rounded individuals – nourished in body, mind and spirit.
Classical Ballet follows the Russian style of ballet. The Russian method of Ballet education has been devised and refined over centuries. The goal of this system is to produce artistically expressive, technically able, powerful dancers through a well balanced and highly logical method. The strong technique of this system creates what is often termed "the Russian style", which is immediately recognisable. It is, however, more than a style, it is the solid foundation of pure classical ballet.
The Royal Academy of Dance method, is a ballet technique and training system, specially devised by the founders of the RAD, who merged their respective dance methods (Italian, French, Danish and Russian) to create a new style of ballet that is unique to the organisation. RAD pays attention to detail when learning the basic steps with difficulty increasing slightly between grades making difficult steps easier to learn. This style of ballet has become recognised internationally as the English style of ballet.
Tap is a fun rhythmic form of dance that helps coordination, stamina and timing. Students learn a mixture of set technical exercises and musical appreciation. Tap dancers, or Hoofers as tappers are called, use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. Today we mainly see this type of dance in musical theatre. A great discipline to learn and fun to perform.
Modern dance centres on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing. It's a form of contemporary theatrical and concert dance employing a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas. This class explores lots of different dance styles from jazz to lyrical technique and improvisation.
Lyrical contemporary dance blends the beautiful extended lines of ballet with the release and fluidity of contemporary dance to create expressive, emotional choreography. Students will often perform to music with lyrics. The lyrics of the chosen song serve as inspiration for the dancers' movements and expressions. Music used for these dances are typically emotionally charged and expressive.
Flamenco dance is a highly expressive, Spanish dance form. The flamenco is a solo dance characterised by hand clapping, percussive footwork, and intricate hand, arm and body movements. The flamenco is an opportunity to express yourself and be creative. In flam enco there is always something to learn, something to create and it's a great way to share an artistic passion with other friends.

Dance Fitness is a type of group fitness class that incorporates some or many forms of dance. It's a full body aerobic workout, divided into different tracks that provide peaks and troughs of intensity. The overall intensity of a class varies depending on the style you're doing.
Dance Fitness classes offer a relaxed environment where you can really let your inhibitions go, get the results you want, learn some new moves and meet some great people along the way
This class will introduce students to both the exploration of the choreographic process and the basic tools used in choreography. We will explore the elements involved in putting together a routine; including space, time, speed & movement quality. Students will ultimately choose the music, costume and will choreograph their own routine, along with instructor’s direction. Come along and explore your creativity whilst having fun and making new friends.
Dance Fusion is an improvised lead-follow approach to dancing to any style of music that does not have a strictly defined dance aesthetic. Just as music adopts, adapts to, and blends with various influences and styles, dance fusion accomplishes the same in the form of dance. This is a fun, varied dance class.
Tiny Steps is a creative movement class that introduces the idea of other dance forms, and broadening musicality. This class will help the physical, intellectual and social development of children from a very young age. In particular they can develop their motor skills, coordination, listening, concentration and social skills through well-structured classes. Children will learn to work in groups and develop their creative skills and many will go on to develop a love of dance and music.
Ballet Bees is our pre-school ballet class, for children aged 2-4 years. This class introduces ballet technique, rhythm and musicality in a fun and exciting way.
