COSTUMES...

Please find below costumes for each class, we supply most of the costumes but there are some items that we ask parents to bring, these have * next to them.  Anything with a (H) is being hired from us.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST SHOW?

Our annual show is such an exciting event to take part in. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to perform on a stage with lights, costumes and make-up. We understand that if this is your child’s first show then there can be a lot of information to take in. We hope that these FAQS will help to answer any questions!

Our show takes place on Saturday 6th July with matinee and an early evening performance at The Bingham Hall. There will be a photo day on Sunday 23rd June,  the dress rehearsal on Saturday 29th June, a tech rehearsal on Sunday 30th June.  Students MUST be able to take part in our rehearsals & performance. You will receive a rehearsal schedule and costume list after May half term.  There are times where we ask parents to supply some elements of the costume but this will be things like leggings that most children have.

Yes! All of these extra rehearsals provide students with the opportunity to polish routines and increase their confidence and stage presence with this additional practice. We want all students to feel super confident so they can be the best they can be on show night. Please remember that these are group routines and that your child is part of a team. If one piece of the puzzle is missing it makes it very difficult for the rest of the team members to rehearse. Please check your rehearsal schedules for alternative start & finishing times for Gymnastics, and Mini Groovers (Saturday 9:25 class).

Speaking from experience they are like the Duracell Bunny!! I was worried about this for my daughter’s first show at 3 1⁄2 but I really didn’t need to worry, she absolutely loved it and this was back in the day when there were 3 nights of shows. All Midi Groovers will have an earlier finishing time if required and their dance will be in the first half of the show. They can then go and join their families and watch the rest of the show. They will have a blast and love every minute of this experience and they seem to manage these extra practices brilliantly.

We will limit the amount of parents backstage, as you can imagine that it can be very busy. Each age group will be assigned a changing room and a dedicated backstage helper. They will be there to assist them with anything they need and chaperone them to the toilets. We would appreciate our younger stars coming with hair done as this would help us greatly. For our littlest stars, we would appreciate parents to be present until the start of the show and will enable you to reserve seats if needed. We find that having a dvd available backstage helps to settle the little ones as well. Please get in touch if you would like to help out either backstage or in front of house.

There will always be a member of our backstage team present at the signing in desk. Each parent must complete a show consent form for their child to take part. We will also ask you for a password if you are sending someone else to pick up your child, we will ask them for this on pick up. You are also welcome to stay and watch rehearsals if you like. For the older students, the rehearsals are for a decent amount of time so we encourage you to go home and come back later to collect your child or lift share if you can. Please make these arrangements known at the signing in desk. We would ask you to bring snacks and drinks and for those that stay for longer.

There will be a show fee to help towards the cost of costumes, it’s very expensive to put on a show but it’s such an important experience for our students and for you as a parent to see how much they have blossomed and grown in confidence. We do our absolute best to keep costume costs minimal as well as striving to achieve a super professional production. We are very realistic and do not expect each dance to have a spectacular bespoke costume. Some costumes are purchases, whilst other are made so if you’re a dab hand with a sewing machine please get in touch.

You can do this via the StageStubs website.

No, you are unable to do this for child protection reasons. We do get the show professionally photographed and recorded. You will have the opportunity to purchase these professional photographs after the show has taken place.

Hair and make-up is part and parcel of dance and the performance of dance. When performers are on stage in a large theatre we need to accentuate their features so we can see their faces more clearly. We keep our make up to a minimum and ask you to provide a small bag with a few pieces of basic make-up, which we will be able to help you with. We will be providing instructions for you to apply or our backstage team and senior students will be on hand to help and apply it.

Please refer to the running orders uploaded here. We will also issue a costume list nearer the time highlighting the dances your child is in. The costume list will run you through a check list of everything your child needs including the main costume, tights/socks, shoes and hair accessories. Please check you have everything you need and CLEARLY NAME EVERYTHING! Please note there will be no “spare” costumes or accessories! All costumes will be kept at The Bingham and not taken home.

We ask you to bring any dance shoes, accessories etc in a names shoe size box to keep everything together. This helps our backstage team greatly with tidying up and ensuring the children know where their things are for the show. Please pack in their box something to do whilst they wait backstage for their turn to perform. Books, magazines, card games, travel games, dvd player and blanket. Please NO felt tips!!! Our backstage team do a fantastic job at keeping the children entertained and occupied! Please also pack them with a water bottle and snacks. NO fizzy drinks, chocolate and NO NUTS! We also recommend a big shirt or something they can wear over their costumes to keep them clean.
